Back when I wrote a newspaper column, I think I aspired to be something not mentioned here--a Motivator? a Mind Changer? someone whose ambition was to change the general way of thinking, and thus acting, in the world--by way of illumination, but I don't know that I particularly succeeded.
I'm suspicious when a taxonomy breaks down to "Here are three kinds of bad writers and here's the catch-all kind of good writer."
